Gift Card Region Guide for Pakistani Gamers

The most common reason a Pakistani gamer buys the wrong gift card is region mismatch. Every major gaming platform — PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Google Play, Apple, Roblox, Battle.net, Riot, EA — handles regions slightly differently, and what works on one platform doesn’t necessarily work on another. This is the consolidated reference: what “region” means on each platform, what happens if you buy wrong, and how to check your account region before you check out. Save this page — it’s the cheat-sheet we wish every Pakistani gamer had bookmarked.

What does “region” actually mean for a gift card?

On most platforms, a gift card is tied to the country its store sells through. The platform sets up a separate storefront per country (US Store, UK Store, Turkish Store, etc.), each with its own currency, its own catalogue of available games and apps, and its own card denominations. A gift card sold in one store’s currency only credits accounts registered to that store. The card is the country-specific top-up; the account binding is what determines compatibility.

This is why a USA Xbox card can’t redeem on a UK Microsoft account — the card is a USD-denominated US-Store credit and the UK account is on a separate GBP-priced UK Store. The two storefronts are independent backend ledgers; gift-card balances don’t cross over.

Platform-by-platform region rules

PlayStation Network (PSN)

Region-locked: yes, strictly. A PSN gift card from one country only redeems on a PSN account registered to that same country. Sony does not let you change your account country through normal settings.

Xbox / Microsoft Store

Region-locked: yes. Microsoft tied your Xbox account to a country at sign-up. An Xbox gift card from one country only redeems on a Microsoft account in that country. This applies to both general Xbox store credit AND Xbox Game Pass subscription codes — they’re separate products but both region-locked.

Steam

Region-locked: NO. This is the exception. Steam Wallet codes are universally USD, and they redeem on any Steam account regardless of where you signed up. Pakistani Steam buyers don’t have to think about regions — just pick the denomination from our Steam category.

(Note: Steam accounts have their own regional pricing — your account’s region determines what games cost. But the gift-card region question doesn’t apply.)

Google Play

Region-locked: yes, strictly. A Google Play gift card from one country only redeems on a Google account whose Play Store country is set to that same country. We stock USA, UK, and Turkey (TR) variants covering the three most common Pakistani Android configurations.

The Turkey variant has a specific use case: Pakistani buyers who switched their Google account to the Turkish Play Store for cheaper subscription pricing (YouTube Premium, Google One, Spotify). Check your country at play.google.com/store/account.

Apple / iTunes

Region-locked: yes, strictly. An Apple Gift Card from one country only redeems on an Apple ID set to that same country. We stock USA and CA (Canada) variants. Pakistani iOS users most commonly set up their App Store with a US Apple ID; a smaller group runs Canadian Apple IDs.

Roblox

Region-locked: NO. Roblox gift cards are not region-locked the way most platform cards are — a USA Roblox Game Card redeems on a Roblox account regardless of where the account was created. We stock USA denominations because they cover the global use case.

Fortnite (Epic Games)

Region-paired: yes. Fortnite codes are paired with the country setting on your Epic account. We stock USA V-Bucks denominations — the most common Pakistani Epic-account configuration.

PUBG Mobile (UC)

Region-locked: NO. PUBG Mobile UC codes are global — a single code works on any PUBG Mobile account regardless of region, on Android, iOS, or Steam via Midasbuy. Browse our PUBG category.

Region-locked: yes. Battle.net cards are paired with your Battle.net account region (Americas or Europe). We stock USA and EU variants in our Blizzard category.

Riot Games (LoL, Valorant)

Region-locked: yes. Riot Points (for LoL) and Valorant Points are paired with your Riot account region (NA, LATAM, EU, etc.). How to check your account region — quick links per platform

• PSN: Settings → Users and Accounts → Account → Account Privacy on console, or account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com on web.
• Xbox: account.microsoft.com → Your info → Country/Region.
• Google Play: play.google.com/store/account → Payments & subscriptions → Settings → Country.
• Apple: appleid.apple.com → Sign-In and Security → Country/Region.
• Steam: store.steampowered.com → account → Account details → Country.
• Roblox: no region check needed (cards are global).
• Riot: Riot client → Settings → Account → Region.
• Battle.net: Battle.net launcher → gear icon → Manage Account → Region.

What happens if you buy the wrong region?

The platform’s redemption page returns an “invalid code” or “code not recognised” error when the card region doesn’t match the account region. The error message is identical to what you’d see if the code were actually defective — but the cause is the region mismatch on your side, not a problem with the code itself. The same code will redeem cleanly on an account in the correct region.

Our Refund Policy covers this case: if you can show the redemption was attempted on a region-matching account and still failed, the claim falls under Section 5.2 (refundable). If the redemption was attempted on a region-mismatched account, the claim falls under Section 6.4 (not refundable, since the card is functioning as intended for its labelled region).
